Kimi’s Carpets Plus is the result of determination, resilience, and passion for helping homeowners and businesses achieve their flooring goals.

“Kimi” “Boss Lady”

Kimi, alongside Michael, is the owner of Kimi’s Carpets Plus Inc. She essentially married into the flooring business. When moving to North Carolina Kimi and Michael purchased Carpets Plus Inc. from Mike's parents and worked tirelessly to turn it into the company it is today.

Kimi is a true leader; she does a variety of tasks for the company. She has worn many hats with a smile for everyone. Currently, Kimi is at the Cary location getting it open and running. She does have 1 area that she specializes in but tries to learn whatever she can about all of them. When asked if she could pick one area she answered “If I could spend all my time doing one thing for the company it would be networking and educating the public on the dos and don’ts of the flooring industry. So many people are taken advantage of, and we are trying to help make this industry better for everyone.”

Kimi is an incredibly strong woman. She has recently beat colon cancer and never complained once during Chemotherapy. Kimi has worked with so many clients and staff over the years. She says her most rewarding part is to see everyone succeed and our clients thrilled with their homes when we leave. “I love a smiling happy customer.” Kimi has a unique background. Having studied Radio Broadcast Communications and promotions in Connecticut. Working for several radio stations before moving to Florida where she thought she would grow roots, however, that wasn’t meant to be. Kimi and Mike reconnected after years of not seeing each other and without question Kimi moved to North Carolina to marry the lifelong family friend.

Kimi learned about the flooring business from Mike. After they obtained the business Kimi has studied and researched flooring manufacturers and different types of flooring since obtaining the business. She has attended several Shaw Conventions, Broadlume’s Jason Goldberg Boot camp, and Several of Broadlume’s Floorcon Conventions to further her education in the industry. She has worked on job sites alongside the installers to learn every aspect of the industry. She has worked with each manufacturer to learn and educate herself on each specific product possible.

Kimi is a member of the Shaw Flooring Network, Flooring Stores United, The Women of the Flooring Industry, CFI – International Certified Flooring Installers, and NWFA. Kimi’s is proud to have been chosen as a Flooring Provider and Installer for the first season of Love It or List It which was filmed in North Carolina. Kimi was just nominated to the Who’s Who among America's Small Business Owners.

Kimi believes in giving back to her community. For years Kimi’s Carpets Plus has sponsored Softball teams, baseball teams, the area food banks, and other small local clubs.

"The Fix"

Mike is the owner and founder of the original Carpets Plus Inc. with his father back in 1993 when moving to North Carolina. Mike and Kimi purchased Carpet’s Plus from his family and have run it side by side since its incorporation in 2012. While Mike prefers to work behind the scenes, his influence is felt as the driving force behind our dedicated staff.

In his role, Mike oversees the company's finances, meticulously tracking spending to ensure optimal efficiency. He's hands-on with day-to-day operations, crafting procedures that have contributed to the smooth functioning of Kimi’s Carpets Plus. Despite his serious demeanor, Mike is known to engage in friendly conversations and jokes with the staff, fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Mike has been a lifelong member of the flooring community, having started on job sites with his father long before owning the company. He has over 45 years of experience in the industry. Mike is a proud member of CFI - Certified Flooring Institute, and WFCA – World Floor Covering Association. Mike has a Master’s Degree in History from the University of Nebraska Kearney and has gone through Several years of training through Shaw floors and the Broadlume Jason Goldberg Flooring boot camp

Mikes best professional achievement is having watched his family business grow from the 800 square foot showroom, doing installs with one of his nephews, running the business at night with Kimi to the company we are today. With achievements and accolades under his belt, Mike has proudly given back to the community year after year, he sponsors baseball teams, and local events and charities.

Outside of work, Mike treasures his role as a father to his daughter Joy. He has adjusted his schedule to homeschool her, and spend quality time together. In his leisure time, Mike enjoys playing the guitar and watching college baseball.
